Plank Style Siding
Cedar Shingle Style and Board & Batten Style Siding
For decades vinyl was the most popular siding nationwide because it was the cheapest option. The trend since Covid in 2020 has been towards quality and products that will provide the greatest increase in the value of their home. There is a very limited supply of homes for sale in the market and because of this home values have soared. With home ownership and home values at a premium, homeowners are no longer interested in “cheap”. They want “quality” to protect the value of their home.
1. The quality and durability of James Hardie siding and PVC trim is much greater than vinyl siding and aluminum trim.
2. The labor cost for Hardie is double because it requires skilled craftsman to install and takes about double the time to complete a James Hardie siding project compared to a vinyl siding project.
Vinyl was the most popular type of siding for decades because it was the cheapest option. Now 50% of our new siding projects are removing old vinyl siding and aluminum trim because it looks wavy, cracked, broken, bent, and cheap.
Homeowners are now shifting to a more beautiful and durable product in James Hardie siding to protect the value of their home. They won't need to replace their siding ever again. Despite the higher short term cost, James Hardie siding is a much better product.
These are the most popular colors. An estimator will bring samples to your home to see.
Question: Are your crews experienced in the specific installation guidelines for James Hardie siding?
Answer: Yes. We follow the very strict guidelines that James Hardie requires in order to make sure the siding looks good and lasts for decades to come. *** We even back our original workmanship with a Lifetime Warranty. For as long as you own your home, we stand behind our work.
Question: Does the shingle style of siding or board & batten style cost more than plank siding?
Answer: Yes. Both shingle and board & batten style cost more. Partially because the material cost is more and partially because the labor takes longer to install than plank siding. For this reason, some homeowners choose these styles of siding for the front of the home only or for accent areas only.
Question: Is there a price difference based on the color I choose?
Answer: There are 18 primary colors in the Statement Collection shown above that most people choose. There is no price difference within these 18 colors. The Magnolia Collection and any custom colors cost more.
Question: Can I have Hardie siding installed primed but not painted and hire my own painter?
Answer: You can but this is not cost effective. Hiring a painter after installation will cost you more than having it factory painted. Also, paint applied by a painter in the field will not last as long. Hardie bakes the paint finish into the siding at the factory which is why the paint is warrantied for 15 years.
Question: How long does it take to install Hardie siding on a home?
Answer: Every home is different but an “average” size home will take about 2 weeks to complete.
Question: Why do you suggest replacing the wood trim boards with PVC even if they are not rotten?
Answer: Any wood trim left on your home is susceptible to future rotting. If left in place, ALL of it will need to be repainted every 5-7 years. New PVC trim or Hardie trim eliminates this and completes a brand new look for your home that is almost maintenance free. If you don't replace the trim, the old dirty trim looks grungy next to the brand new siding.
Hardie siding is more expensive than vinyl siding but is the #1 selling brand of siding in the country because of it's high quality, beauty, and durability.
* Hardie siding looks like real wood but is more durable than wood.
* Hardie siding has greater curb appeal than vinyl siding which looks "artificial".
* Hardie siding adds more value to a home than vinyl siding.
